Motorcycles, Bones & RigMags

It’s been a slightly eventful few weeks!

About three weeks ago, I was on my way to work on my motorcycle when I had an accident, which left me with a pretty badly broken shoulder and arm.

When I’m not working on design projects , my day job is as a firefighter — and unfortunately, broken bones and firefighting don’t really mix. So I’m now going to be off work for several months while everything heals.

Being off work for several months certainly wasn’t part of the plan, but it has given me something I don’t normally have much of — time to focus on new projects and ideas.

One of those projects is RigMags.

I’m using this unexpected time to really focus on developing RigMags: designing new pieces, producing the range, experimenting with new ideas and seeing where I can take the project.

There is one slight problem…

The injury is to my right arm — unfortunately, my dominant hand. Not being able to use it makes even the simplest things surprisingly tricky.

And as I’m rapidly discovering, my left hand cannot be trusted!

Using a normal computer mouse isn’t really an option at the moment, so a surprising amount of RigMags design work is currently being done one-handed using a tiny little mouse.

Designing is definitely slower and considerably more fiddly than usual, but I’m finding ways around it — and RigMags is very much moving forward.

A massive thank you

I also want to say a proper thank you to everyone who has contacted me over the last three weeks.

I’ve received some fantastic feedback and positivity about RigMags, along with some incredibly generous offers to help me source parts and eventually get my motorcycle repaired and back on the road.

The messages, encouragement and offers of help have meant a huge amount during what has been a pretty strange few weeks.

So, genuinely — thank you.

For now, I’ll keep letting the bones do their thing while making the most of the unexpected time I’ve been given to design, create and see where RigMags can go.

Tim
